On certain trucks, the rear drive axle housing was manufactured with steel below the specified thickness, which could result in fatigue failure over time. If failure occurs, the outboard end of the housing could eventually separate, allowing the hub, axle shaft, and/or wheel and brake assembly to separate from the vehicle. This could cause a vehicle crash with injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the axle assembly.

On certain motorcycles, the licence plate bracket mounting screws could loosen, allowing the plate assembly to contact the rear tire. This could cause the licence plate bracket to rotate and damage the rear brake line, causing a fluid leak. The loss of rear brake function, in conjunction with traffic and road condition, and the rider’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will remove the rear licence plate mounting screws, apply thread-locking compound, and reinstall, tightening to the specified torque.

On certain vehicles, the flat tire monitoring system's programming could contain a defect. Specifically, an audible signal (single gong) that is used, in part, to alert the driver to a flat tire, has not been correctly programmed. In the event of a flat tire, the audible signal will not sound. Also, the system's indicator lamp will illuminate, but contrary to the description in the Owner's Manual will not flash.
Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 206 - Door Locks and Door Retention Components. The front and rear passenger-side door latches may have been switched during vehicle assembly. This could result in a passenger front door which cannot be opened by merely pulling on the interior handle and a rear door that can be opened with a simple pull of the interior door handle even if locked. Such a condition could affect the safe exiting of the vehicle in the event of a crash or protection of children from inadvertent opening of the rear door.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace, if necessary, any incorrectly installed door latch assemblies.
On certain vehicles, the right side liftgate sensor may not function as intended, resulting in an increase in force required to stop the power liftgate during its final closing stages. This could result in personal injury if a body part becomes trapped by the closing liftgate.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the right side power liftgate pinch sensor.

On certain Explorer, Explorer Sport and Explorer Sport Tract vehicles, the speed control cable strand cover could impact the conduit end fitting during speed control engagement. Repeated instance of this may result in flaring the cover end causing a binding condition when speed control is disengaged. Drivers may experience a high idle or a condition where it would appear speed control would not disengage. Braking function would be maintained though stopping distances may be increased.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealer will replace the speed control cable.

On certain motorcycles, if contrary to the instructions in the owner's manual, the engine is left running at an increased speed above idle (e.g., by operating the choke longer than necessary to obtain a smooth idle) while the vehicle is stationary, it is possible for the temperature of the exhaust system to rise considerably and cause fairing components to catch fire.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
A warning label to be installed on affected vehicles and an owner's manual insert with additional warning will be mailed to owners.
Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 120 - Tire Selection and Rims.
