On certain vehicles, the engine oil cooler lines could fail, causing an oil leak. Oil may contact a hot engine or exhaust component, which could result in a fire. Oil may also be sprayed onto the tires and/or brakes, which could adversely affect vehicles stability. As well, engine oil spilt on the roadway could endanger other road users by making the roadway unexpectedly slippery. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MINIVANS EQUIPPED WITH ENGINES SUPPLIED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY CLEVELAND ENGINE PLANT. THESE ENGINES ARE INSTALLED WITH FUEL INJECTORS THAT DO NOT MATCH THE LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD

CONDENSED MOISTURE FROM THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) PORT COULD SEEP TOWARD THE BRAKE VACUUM PORT INSIDE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND START TO FREEZE.
Safety Risk
VACUUM ASSIST TO THE BRAKES WOULD BE DECREASED AND INCREASED PEDAL PRESSURE WOULD BE REQUIRED, INCREASING THE VEHICLE STOPPING DISTANCE.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VACUUM PORT. ALSO, OWNERS OF THE SUBJECT VEHICLES IN STATES OTHER THAN THE RECALL STATES WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL. IF THE ECHO OWNER BELIEVES THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE VEHICLE WILL BE OPERATED IN THESE STATES DURING THE WINTER OR IN CONDITIONS DESCRIBED, THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE SERVICED FOR THIS RECALL.
On certain motorcycles during cold starts, a delay in the response of the oil pressure relief valve can occur allowing the oil pressure to momentarily rise high enough to deform the bottom plate of the oil filter. This could cause oil to leak from the oil filter and create the potential for a crash, resulting in injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealer will replace the oil filter with a countermeasure oil filter.

On certain vehicles, the hydraulic clutch actuator (HCA) was produced with burrs that could damage the inner oil seal. A damaged oil seal may create an oil leak that could result in an accumulation of oil in the phase cap area, and eventually cause an electrical short. This could increase the risk of an engine compartment fire causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the hydraulic clutch actuator.

Certain ambulance or fire package vehicles with 6.7L diesel engines may experience a "stop safety now" warning message and 5 audible chimes if an Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) sensor fault is detected. Engine torque would be gradually reduced by 70 percent over a period of 45 seconds to a power-reduced level that is maintained. During this time, there would be no effect on steering, braking, lighting, electrical, or restraint systems, allowing the operator to maneuver the vehicle to a safe location. Such an occurrence could also result in an engine shut down and subsequent inability to quickly restart the vehicle. If this condition were to occur when an ambulance or fire engine vehicle was transporting a patient or providing medical assistance, it could delay medical treatment and increase the risk of injury to the patient.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module with updated software.

On certain vehicles, the connecting rods and/or crankshaft components may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the engine could make abnormal noises and a warning light may turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with these symptoms, the engine could fail.
Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 6.2 L V8 gas engine.
Safety Risk
An engine failure could cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to inspect and, if necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass the engine inspection, the dealer will replace the oil with a higher viscosity oil, install a new oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and add an insert to the owner's manual.
On certain vehicles, a combination of a low battery condition and fuel in the upper intake manifold while the ignition key is activated at engine start could cause an elevated rate of manifold over-pressurization events. The operator may experience a loud bang / intake backfire that could rupture the intake manifold, resulting in emitting dust from under the hood and a no-start condition. If this event were to occur, and if an ignition source were present, an engine compartment fire could occur.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealer will replace the fuel pressure regulator.
