THE BATTERY CABLE LEADING TO THE STARTER SOLENOID AND THE LEAD FROM THE SOLENOID TO THE STARTER MOTOR MAY BE IMPROPERLY ROUTED ABOVE THE COIL BRACKET. IN THIS POSITION THE INSULATION OF THE LEADS COULD CUT THROUGH CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING AND THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT WHICH COULD POSSIBLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.
THE FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTORS MAY NOT LOCK IN THE EVENT OF A SUDDEN STOP OR IMPACT. SHOULD THIS HAPPEN, THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETAIN THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER IN A SAFE POSITION.
ON VEHICLES WITH 2.5L ENGINES.
THE FUEL SYSTEM MAY LEAK AT THE THROTTLE BODY INJECTION FUEL FEED PIPE CONNECTION PRESENTING THE POSSIBILITY OF AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.
VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITH BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS THAT HAVE IMPROPERLY ANODIZED INTERNAL SURFACES. THIS COULD CAUSE ACCELERATED WEAR OF A MASTER CYLINDER PISTON SEAL TO THE EXTENT THAT ONE PORTION OF THE SPLIT BRAKE SYSTEM BECOMES INEFFECTIVE. THIS WOULD INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCES AND COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
VEHICLES WITH CRUISE CONTROL. UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS THERE COULD BE INSUFFICIENT CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE METAL BUSHING AND THE SHAFT OF THE CRUISE CONTROL LINKAGE. ALSO, THE LINKAGE POINTS WERE NOT LUBRICATED DURING ASSEMBLY. WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCHED ON, THE CONTOL LINKAGE COULD BIND CAUSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO STICK ON THE DEPRESSED POSITION. THIS COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND VEHICLE CRASH.
A STEEL TUBE THAT DELIVERS AIR TO THE FRONT AXLE AIR BRAKE CHAMBER CAN CONTACT THE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER. REPEATED CONTACT CAN RESULT IN A HOLE BEING WORN IN THE TUBE CAUSING AIR PRESSURE TO BE LOST DURING BRAKE APPLICATION. THIS COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF BRAKES AND POSSIBLE VEHICLE CRASH.
THE GREASE USED TO LUBRICATE THE HEADLAMP SWITCH WAS FORMULATED INCORRECTLY TO CONTAIN SILICONE. ELECTRICAL ARCING DURING SWITCH OPERATION COULD PRODUCE SILICONE OXIDE DEPOSITS WHICH COULD PREVENT THE SWITCH CONTACT POINTS FROM COMPLETELY CLOSING. THIS COULD RESULT IN EITHER DELAYED OR NON-ILLUMINATION OF ONE OF THE HEAD- LIGHTS WHEN THE SWITCH IS TURNED ON OR DURING DIMMER SWITCH OPERATION.
THE HI-TECH TURBO WHEELS ON THESE VEHICLES CONTAIN EXCESSIVE POROSITY IN THE HUB AREA WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY AFFECT STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. THIS COULD ALLOW THE WHEEL TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE.
LIGHT TRUCKS WITH 5 LITRE ENGINES AND ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION. BURRS AND/OR SHARP EDGES MAY BE PRESENT ON THE FUEL RAILS AT THE PUSH CONNECT FITTING OF EITHER THE SUPPLY OR RETURN LINE ASSEMBLIES. THESE BURRS OR SHARP EDGES MAY HAVE DAMAGED THE O-RING SEALS IN THE PUSH CONNECT FITTING. THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED PRESENTING THE POTENTIAL FOR AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE.
THE AXLE RETAINING "C" CLIP IN THE DIFFERENTIAL MAY DISLODGE AND ALLOW THE AXLE, WHEEL AND BRAKE DRUM TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN SUBJECTED TO SIDE FORCES. AXLE SEPARATION COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND POSSIBLE CRASH.
SEDANS AND STATION WAGONS. THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH FUEL CAPS THAT HAVE A POTENTIAL FOR LEAKING. THIS COULD RESULT IN THE VEHICLES NOT MEETING THE REQUIREMENTS OF C.M.V.S.S. 301 - FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY.
NOTE: THESE VEHICLES WERE SOLD TO BELL, D.N.D., AND R.C.M.P. THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH A FUEL HOSE WHICH MAY HAVE HAD ITS FITTINGS ALIGNED IN A MANNER WHICH COULD CAUSE ABRASION DAMAGE DUE TO ENGINE ROCKING AND RESULT IN A FUEL LEAK, THEREBY CREATING THE RISK OF FIRE.

THE REAR CONTROL ARM BRACKET ATTACHING BOLTS USED ON CERTAIN OF THESE VEHICLES MAY FRACTURE. FAILURE OF ALL FOUR BOLTS ON ONE SIDE CAN RESULT IN THE CONTROL ARM DROPPING ENOUGH TO CUT THE REAR BRAKE HOSE. SUCH A CUT WOULD RESULT IN FLUID LOSS AND PARTIAL LOSS OF BRAKING ACTION. THIS WOULD CAUSE INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES AND SHOULD A FAILURE OCCUR WHILE TRHE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT A TIME WHEN MINIMAL STOPPING DISTANCES ARE REQUIRED, A VEHICLE CRASH COULD RESULT.
UNDER HEAVY WIPER LOAD SITUATIONS, THE PRIMARY WINDSHIELD WIPER ACTUATING LINKAGE MAY DISENGAGE FROM THE WIPER MOTOR ARM. THIS WOULD RESTRICT DRIVER VISION IN WET OR SNOWY CONDITIONS AND COULD ADVERSELY AFFECT THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE.
