Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2019 SL450, SL63 AMG, and SL550 vehicles. Over time, the bolt connection at the front-left mounting point on the rear axle carrier casting may fail, possibly affecting the vehicle's handling.

Remedy
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the front-left mounting point of the rear axle carrier. On certain vehicles equipped with Mercedes-Benz accessory allseason floor mats, the mats may interfere with the accelerator pedal when the pedal is fully depressed, causing the accelerator pedal to become temporarily stuck in the open position or to retract more slowly than normal. An accelerator pedal that does not retract normally could result in the vehicle not decelerating as expected when the driver lifts their foot from the accelerator pedal. This could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.

On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function.
Safety Risk
If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury.
Remedy
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the passenger-front airbag inflator or airbag module replaced. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected. Additional Note: Vehicles may have had the original front passenger airbag inflator replaced as a "like-for-like" replacement under recall 2016-103 (Toyota Recall #'s SRC 241 & SRC 242) as a temporary remedy while evaluating a permanent remedy. On certain vehicles with a two-speed power transfer unit (PTU), the input splines on the front differential may wear and fail. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. In addition, the PARK position may not hold the vehicle in place. This could allow the vehicle to move unexpectedly when parked.

Remedy
FCA will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the power transfer unit. On certain motorcycles, a resin bracket inside the fuel pump may swell and interfere with the impeller which may cause the fuel pump to stop working properly. While parked, this can prevent the engine from starting. While riding, particles may become stuck between the bracket and the impeller causing the engine to stall and possibly not restart. Engine stalling, in conjunction with traffic, road conditions, and driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
