On certain S 560 and Maybach S 560 models, the plugs used to close oil ports on the engine could fail. If this happens, oil can leak from the engine. If the engine oil level drops, a red warning message would display in the instrument cluster. If a driver continues to operate the vehicle, the engine could run out of oil and fail.
Safety Risk
An oil leak on the road surface could become a hazard for other road users. An engine that fails would result in a sudden loss of engine power. Both of these conditions could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the closure plugs. You should avoid sudden acceleration and driving the vehicle at high engine speeds until the recall repairs are completed. If you detect any of the warnings listed, you should contact a dealership to have your vehicle inspected.

THE COOLING SYSTEM HOSES DETERIORATE AND FAIL BECAUSE OF INADEQUATE HEAT RESISTANCE. FAILURE FIRST OCCURS AT THE CLAMP CONNECTIONS, CAUSING COOLANT FLUID TO BE LEAKED OR SPRAYED ONTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COMPONENTS.
Safety Risk
IF THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED WITH A LOW COOLANT LEVEL, THECOOLING SYSTEM TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE WOULD RISE VERY QUICKLY. COOLANTREACHING THE HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD CAN IGNITE AND CAUSE AN ENGINE COMPARTMENTFIRE.
Remedy
REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE COOLING SYSTEM HOSES WITH IMPROVED HEAT RESISTANT HOSES, MODIFY THE COOLANT RECOVERY SYSTEM TO PREVENT SUDDEN INCREASES IN COOLING SYSTEM TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE, AND REPLACE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COMPONENTS WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED OR WOULD DETERIORATE WITH TIME.
On certain vehicles, the rubber seal at the top edge of the secondary bulkhead of the engine compartment may have been damaged during manufacturing. Should a sufficient length of rubber seal be displaced from the bulkhead, and the seal were to drop down, it could result in the loose end of the seal contacting exhaust components. This could increase the risk of fire resulting in injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the rubber seal in the engine compartment.

On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0 L Nu GDI engine, the connecting rod bearings could wear prematurely. As a result, there could be an abnormal knocking noise from the engine and/or the oil pressure warning light may turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with worn connecting rod bearings, the engine could fail. An engine failure would cause a sudden loss of power with an inability to restart. In some cases, a damaged connecting rod could puncture the engine block and cause an oil leak.
Note: For the Sonata model, only the Sonata Hybrid is affected by this recall.
Additional Note: Engine compartment fires can happen for many different reasons. In some cases, there is too much damage to find the cause of a fire.
Safety Risk
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Oil that leaks onto a hot component could cause a fire.
Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer for an engine inspection test, to determine if there is bearing damage. If damage is found, the engine will be replaced. Dealers will also update the software for the engine control module.
Note: Hyundai recommends that you should always follow the correct vehicle maintenance schedule, which is printed in the Owner's Manual.
