Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016 Dodge Dart vehicles manufactured July 25, 2015, to December 16, 2015 and equipped with a 2.0L engine and a manual transmission. Additionally included are certain 2015 Dodge Dart vehicles similarly equipped and brought in for dealer service between September 15, 2015 and January 12, 2016. In the affected vehicles, the powertrain control module that monitors the engine torque output may be missing a backup layer of software.
Safety Risk
Without a backup layer of software, the control module may fail to prevent an un-commanded torque event, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the Engine Control Module software, free of charge. The recall began on March 25, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S10.

On certain motorcycles and all-terrain-vehicles, the generator stator may have insufficient heat resistance, which could lead to a short circuit of the stator wires. If this occurs, the generator could generate insufficient power to charge the battery, which could result in the engine stalling and not being able to restarted. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the generator stator with an improved part.

On certain vehicles with an optional 700 amp battery, the front "three-cell" vent cap of the battery may become dislodged by the vehicle's inner hood panel. A dislodged vent cap would permit hydrogen gas to escape from the battery. In the presence of an ignition source the hydrogen could explode.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
"three-cell" vent caps will be replaced with individual battery cell caps.

On certain vehicles equipped with RPO KNC (onan 6.0 Kw generator). The 110 volt ac conduit on the onan generator may contact the positive battery terminal or starter solenoid post resulting in a short circuit. Also, the 110 volt ac conduit and cable insulation may wear through from contact with the negative battery terminal causing a short circuit. This shorting will damage wiring and can result in a fire even if the onan generator is not operating. The fire could burn the generator fuel supply hose resulting in a gasoline fed fire that could spread to the passenger compartment.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
No remedy description available.

On certain vehicles equipped with a 6-cylinder gasoline engine, the wiring to the engine coolant pump could contact and become damaged by the engine fan. If this occurs, it could cause the engine coolant pump to stop working and the engine to overheat and stall. This could also cause the 48V on-board electrical system to deactivate while the engine is running. Under this condition the vehicle could be continued to be driven, however, the engine could not be restarted after it is switched off by the ECO start/stop function or the glide mode.
Safety Risk
A loss of engine power and/or a loss of power to electrical systems could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace the wiring to the coolant pump. Dealers will also re-route the wiring to prevent contact with the engine fan.
On certain vehicles, the ignition key may not fully return to the RUN position from the START position once the key is released after starting the vehicle. This could affect various vehicle electrical functions, and also cause an unintended change in ignition switch position, which could cause the engine to stall. This would result in a loss of motive power and affect functioning of the power steering and power braking assist systems as well as other safety systems including airbags. These issues could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) module (i.e. ignition switch) and FOBIKs (keys).
