On certain LTL9000 vehicles, due to insufficient lubrication the telescoping intermediate steering shaft may bind. If this occurs, normal cab movement can cause the shaft to shorten. This shortening action can cause the splined steering gear end of the lower shaft to disengage from the steering gear resulting in loss of steering and possible vehicle crash.
