Certain vehicles previously updated following an emission recall concerning the PCV hose may experience throttle icing during cold weather operation. As a result of misrouting of the PCV hose during the emission recall, moisture build-up inside the hose could freeze while the vehicle is parked. If the vehicle is then driven at constant highway speeds in extremely cold temperatures (-30 degrees Celsius or colder), the moisture in the blow-by gases may freeze in the throttle valve area. Under these conditions, even if the accelerator pedal is released while driving, engine speed may not decrease. Unwanted acceleration could result in a vehicle crash without prior warning.

On certain chassis-cab trucks equipped with a 6.7 L diesel engine, the engine oil monitoring system may not detect when the engine oil drops below the minimum level. If this happens, the engine bearings could be damaged. This can lead to a connecting rod failure, which could puncture the engine block and create an oil leak.

Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 301 – Fuel System Integrity. The affected vehicles may have a fuel tank that was not manufactured to specification and may cause the vehicle to fail to meet the requirements of the standard. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.
If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.
