The 2022 Audi Q5 has 10 recalls, the most serious being fire risks tied to two separate issues: an overheating high-voltage battery on plug-in hybrid models and an engine oil leak that can drip onto hot components.
The battery and oil leak concerns account for several of the recalls, with prior repair attempts under earlier campaigns not fully resolving the battery issue on PHEV models. On the engine side, cylinder head cover screws can loosen and allow oil to escape onto hot engine surfaces, and a separate engine control unit fault can cause the engine to stall without warning while driving, raising the risk of a crash. There is also a charging-related fire concern: the onboard charging cable or outlet can overheat during charging. On the structural side, a small number of Q5 Sportback and SQ5 Sportback vehicles may have a rear hatch lid that was not manufactured correctly, causing the latch to break or detach in a crash and allowing the hatch to deform beyond its intended limits.
