On certain GS 300, GS 300 AWD, GS 350, IS 250, IS 250 AWD and IS 350 vehicles, the fuel pressure sensor connected to the engine fuel delivery pipe may not have been sufficiently tightened during vehicle assembly. Should the pressure sensor loosen, fuel could leak past a gasket used in the connection between the sensor and pipe, and through the threaded portion of the sensor. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect for fuel leakage from the threaded portion of the fuel pressure sensor. If there are no signs of a fuel leak, the fuel pressure sensor will be tightened to specifications. On certain vehicles, an electrical terminal on the fuel pump module may overheat and melt, potentially allowing fuel to leak and/or affecting fuel system pressure. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. Low fuel pressure as a result of the leak could also affect engine performance which could result in reduced engine power and/or stalling. These issues could increase the risk of injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness.

On certain vehicles, an incorrect dimensional characteristic of the fuel pumps upper body can result in a misalignment of the armature shaft, which may cause some fuel pumps to experience poor brush-to-commutator contact conditions. In addition use of a 10 percent ethanol blend fuel can cause a film built-up that creates a high resistance between the brush and the commutator. The misaligned armature shaft prevents the brush and the commutator from making sufficient contact to overcome the high resistance film build-up between the brush and commutator. As a result the fuel pump may produce less pumping pressure than required to supply the fuel injection system resulting in poor starting or hesitation. Loss of propulstion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly.

On certain vehicles, the fuel tank is missing an adhesive layer that bonds the barrier layer to the outer shell of the tank. With this condition, fuel and/or fuel vapours could seep out between the layers. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the fuel tank.

IT IS POSSIBLE FOR A MIXTURE OF MUD AND SALT TO GET TRAPPED BETWEEN THE FUEL FILLER TUBE AND WHEEL HOUSING. THE TRAPPED MUD AND SALT CAN RESULT IN CORROSION OF THE FUEL FILLER TUBE AND THE WHEEL HOUSING.
Safety Risk
SIGNIFICANT CORROSION OF THE FUEL FILLER TUBE MAY RESULT IN FUEL LEAKS WHICH IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. IN ADDITION, THE LEFT REAR SEAT BELT RETRACTOR IS MOUNTED TO THE WHEEL HOUSING AND IN THE EVENT OF SIGNIFICANT CORROSION, AND THE MOUNTING COULD FAIL IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THESE VEHICLES AND CORRECTIVE ACTION WILL BE TAKEN DEPENDING UPON THE EXTENT OF THE CORROSION.
On some vehicles, due to a misrouted fuel transfer tube inside the fuel tank, the fuel gauge may read higher than the actual level in the fuel tank. This could cause the vehicle to run out of fuel without notice. Engine stalling would result in lost vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road condition, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the fuel transfer tube and reroute if necessary.
