The 2022 Isuzu FTR has 7 recalls, the most serious involving multiple fuel system fire risks and a missing transmission parking pawl that can allow the truck to roll away on its own.
Two overlapping fuel system issues can cause fuel to leak near ignition sources: the electric fuel heater can overheat and melt its housing, letting fuel contact electrical terminals, and a fuel suction hose quick connector that is too large can fail to seal properly, also allowing fuel to escape. Either condition raises the risk of fire. A separate recall covers the forward collision warning camera, where improperly routed wiring can overload the electrical circuit and overheat. The transmission recall, which affects trucks equipped with the Allison 2500RDS transmission, involves a missing parking pawl, meaning shifting to park provides no mechanical hold against the vehicle rolling.
On the chassis side, axle stabilizer bracket bolts can crack and break, dropping the bracket onto the road and creating a hazard for other vehicles. There is also an engine control software issue where a calibration error disables engine braking, leaving drivers with longer stopping distances than expected on downgrades.
