The 2019 Audi SQ5 has 5 recalls, the most serious being a gateway control module that can shut down after liquid exposure, suddenly cutting engine power and raising the risk of a crash.
A separate brake recall also demands attention: the brake master cylinder casting may be undersized, which can cause a sudden and complete loss of hydraulic braking. The electronic parking brake remains functional if this happens, but normal foot-brake pressure would be gone without warning. On the airbag side, the instrument panel carrier behind the dashboard uses incorrect welds and can break when the front passenger airbag deploys in a crash, potentially damaging the airbag before it fully inflates and reducing the protection it provides to the passenger. Rounding out the list, wheel arch cover trim on the rear of the vehicle can loosen and detach while driving, leaving a piece of plastic debris on the road that other drivers may not be able to avoid.
