The 2020 Audi SQ5 has 5 recalls, the most serious being two separate issues that can cause a sudden loss of power or loss of control while driving. A rear axle lock nut can break and misalign the rear axle, making the vehicle difficult to control. Separately, liquid from a spill in the rear seat or water entering through a body seam underneath the car can reach the gateway control module and shut it down, cutting engine power without warning.
On the occupant safety side, front seat frame welds and backrest adjuster welds on certain vehicles may not have been completed properly, meaning the seatback can collapse in a rear-end collision and leave the occupant without adequate support. This seat frame issue was filed across two overlapping campaigns but describes the same defect.
The fifth recall also involves rear axle misalignment, but in this case the concern is that the misalignment causes uneven or accelerated tire wear over time, which can reduce traction and raise the risk of a crash.
