The 2021 Audi SQ5 has 5 recalls, the most serious being a broken rear axle lock nut that can throw the rear wheels out of alignment and cause the driver to lose control, and a gateway control module that can shut down after liquid intrusion and suddenly cut engine power.
Both of those top issues affect vehicle control in ways a driver may have little warning about. The lock nut problem can also cause uneven or accelerated rear tire wear over time, which further reduces grip and handling stability. On the safety equipment side, a rear seatbelt retractor can fail to secure a child restraint system properly, meaning a child seat may not stay in place in a crash. There is also a visibility concern: the rearview camera can go blank while the vehicle is in reverse, leaving the driver without any image of what is behind the car.
