2014 BMW 3 Series

The 2014 BMW 3 Series has 3 recalls, the most serious being a side curtain airbag inflator that can rupture and send metal fragments toward occupants, with or without the airbag deploying.

When the inflator ruptures, it can also prevent the side curtain airbag from fully inflating in a crash, reducing protection at the moment it is needed most. On the drivetrain side, this recall only affects 328d xDrive models: engine vibrations can damage the rear driveshaft joint over time until the driveshaft separates, cutting power to the rear wheels. A separated driveshaft can also allow the vehicle to roll while parked if the transmission is in Park but the parking brake is not set.
