The 2025 BMW 530i has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the braking system, where the integrated brake unit can lose power assist or cause the anti-lock brakes and stability control to stop working, significantly extending stopping distances and reducing control of the vehicle.
A related concern affects the starter-generator, where the electrical connection between that unit and the battery can work loose over time. A loose connection there can stall the engine without warning, and the wiring at that junction can also overheat to the point of catching fire. Both consequences carry real crash risk, particularly if the engine cuts out at highway speeds.
There is also a recall covering the airbag control unit, which on certain 530i and 540i xDrive vehicles may have been built incorrectly. The result is that the airbags can fail to deploy properly in a crash, which raises the risk of injury to the driver and passenger at the moment when those systems are needed most.
