Recalls 1 through 4 all describe variations of this same brake and stability control problem, involving the integrated brake system control module and the electronic stability control unit. When the brake assist fails, the pedal may feel harder than normal and the car takes longer to stop. If the anti-lock brakes and stability control drop out at the same time, the driver loses key systems that help maintain direction during hard braking or on slippery surfaces. Prior repair attempts across earlier filings did not fully resolve the underlying issue, which is why multiple campaigns address the same core problem across overlapping vehicle ranges.

The fifth recall involves the driver monitoring system. A loose or incorrectly attached ground connection at the steering wheel can make the hands-on detection system stop working. That system normally notices when a driver has taken their hands off the wheel and, if they remain off long enough, triggers an emergency stop assistant. Without a functioning ground connection, the system cannot sense hand contact, so the emergency stopping feature will not activate if the driver becomes incapacitated or inattentive while using highway driving assistance features.
