The 2025 BMW 740i has 3 recalls, all centered on the same braking system concern: the integrated brake system can malfunction, reducing power brake assist and potentially disabling anti-lock brakes and stability control.
When power brake assist drops out, the brake pedal requires significantly more force to slow the car, and stopping distances stretch well beyond what a driver would expect in a normal stop or emergency situation. If the anti-lock brake system stops working correctly, the wheels can lock under hard braking, making it difficult to steer around an obstacle while stopping. A loss of stability control removes the system that detects and corrects skids, meaning the vehicle can slide or spin in situations where it would otherwise stay on course. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why multiple filings exist addressing the same underlying brake system defect.
