The 2008 BMW F 800 GS has two recalls, both involving the drive chain system and each carrying the potential to cause a crash.
The drive chain itself may break over time, and if it gets caught between the rear wheel and the frame, the rear wheel can lock up suddenly. Separately but related, the bolts securing the chain sprocket may not have been tightened to a consistent torque, allowing them to loosen over time and create instability in the drivetrain. Both issues point to the same area of the motorcycle and carry the same core risk: unexpected loss of rear wheel control.
