The 2024 BMW X3 has 3 recalls, the most serious being two steering gear defects that can cause a loss of steering control and raise the risk of a crash.
The steering concerns involve a gear that may have been assembled without proper torque and a separate manufacturing defect in the gear itself. Either condition can allow the steering to loosen or fail outright, leaving the driver unable to control the vehicle's direction. There is also a door lock concern on certain X3 sDrive30i and X3 xDrive30i models: the second-row door locking modules can allow the rear doors to be unlocked with a single motion rather than the required two, meaning a rear passenger could inadvertently open the door while the vehicle is moving.
