The 2024 BMW X3 has 3 recalls, the most serious being two steering gear defects that can cause a complete loss of steering control and raise the risk of a crash. In one case the steering gear may not have been manufactured correctly and can fail outright; in the other, the gear may not have been properly tightened during assembly and can loosen over time. Both conditions leave the driver unable to steer the vehicle. The third recall affects the second-row door locking modules on sDrive30i and xDrive30i trims, where the locks can disengage with a single motion, allowing a rear door to swing open unexpectedly and putting rear seat occupants at risk.
