The 2025 BMW X3 has 10 recalls, the most serious being a loose electrical connection between the starter-generator and the 48-volt battery that can cause the engine to stall or the wiring to overheat and catch fire.
Two separate steering recalls affect certain trims: a software fault can cause the steering wheel to jerk unexpectedly while driving, and a separate issue can cause the wheel to rotate on its own while the vehicle is stationary, both raising the risk of losing control. On the chassis side, the left front swivel bearing can crack and cause a sudden loss of handling, and rear brake hoses on some trims can leak and disable the rear brakes along with the anti-lock and stability control systems. Damaged front brake discs on certain vehicles may also reduce braking performance.
The airbag recalls cover two distinct problems: the front passenger airbag fabric may have been damaged before installation and could fail to inflate properly in a crash, and the right-side head curtain airbag on some vehicles may deploy late or incorrectly due to an assembly error in its gas generator.
