Summary
The Chrysler Pacifica has 48 recalls spanning 2004 through 2025, with the most serious recent issue being side curtain airbags on 2022-2025 models that can fail to hold pressure during a crash, increasing the risk of occupant ejection.
On the current generation, 2025 models also have a steering column control module defect that can prevent the driver's front airbag from deploying in a crash. A 2024 model year issue involves certain wheelchair-converted vehicles where a missing seat limiter allows the seat to travel too far forward, increasing the risk of airbag-related injury. On 2024-2025 vehicles, an incorrectly installed radio can prevent the rearview camera image from appearing while backing up. The 2023 model year has three fire-related concerns on plug-in hybrid versions: a deformed fuel line can leak in the engine compartment, a separate fuel line can also leak, and an incorrectly installed 12-volt battery isolator post can cause an electrical short and fire even while parked. A 2023 steering column control module defect can also leave the driver's airbag inoperative. On 2022 models, loose windshield wiper arm nuts can allow the wipers to slip and fail to clear the windshield.
The 2021-2022 model years have second-row seat floor latches that can stick open and prevent the seat from locking down, leaving it unsecured in a crash. Going back to the 2018-2019 range, a software error on vehicles with the surround-view camera system can leave the rearview image on screen after shifting out of reverse, creating a distraction while driving forward.
The 2017-2023 plug-in hybrid models share a transmission wiring connector that can short circuit and cut engine power without warning. The 2017-2019 models with stop/start systems have a loose battery ground that can drop power steering assist or stall the engine. On 2017-only plug-in hybrids, a separate high-voltage battery defect can cause a short circuit and fire even with the vehicle parked and off, and the prior dealer repair for this issue on some vehicles did not fully resolve it, requiring a second repair. Other 2017 PHEV issues include a power inverter module that can fail and cut drive power, an engine synchronization fault that can overheat the catalytic converter and risk fire, and a 12-volt battery isolator connection that can overheat and ignite. The 2017-2018 models have a manual park release cover that can be removed without a tool, allowing the vehicle to roll away. On 2018 models, front axle half-shafts can disengage from their CV joints, causing loss of drive or vehicle rollaway while parked, and a right-front lower control arm ball joint can separate from the steering knuckle, causing sudden loss of steering.
Certain 2017 Vantage Mobility wheelchair-converted vehicles have two separate issues: rear pinion brackets that can crack and allow a wheel to wobble, and rear brake lines that were crossed during conversion, making the anti-lock brake system ineffective. On 2021-2022 models, second-row seat belt buckles on 8-passenger configurations can inadvertently unlatch the left outboard belt. A 2017 overhead seat belt stow clip can fracture and prevent use of the center second- or third-row belts.
Earlier production from 2004-2006 had fuel line separation issues that could leak fuel near ignition sources
