The 2009 Ferrari California has 2 recalls, both involving the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator, which can rupture during deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a serious risk of injury or death. Over time, heat and humidity can degrade the propellant inside the airbag inflator, causing it to deploy with excessive force. Prior repair attempts for this defect have not fully resolved the issue, which is why multiple recall campaigns exist for the same underlying problem.
