The 2022 Harley-Davidson FXLRST has 3 recalls, the most serious being a rear shock absorber fastener or mounting tab that can break and allow the adjuster to contact and damage the rear tire, causing sudden loss of tire pressure and potential loss of control.

The shock absorber issue has been filed across multiple affected model ranges but describes the same failure: a broken fastener or mounting tab lets the pre-load adjuster swing into the rear tire, puncturing or deflating it while riding. A rapid loss of rear tire pressure on a motorcycle can cause the bike to become unstable and difficult to keep upright. There is also a brake concern specific to this model: the front brake lines may rub against the fuel tank and wear through over time, leading to brake fluid leaking out and a partial or total loss of front braking power. On a motorcycle, losing the front brake significantly reduces stopping ability, particularly at higher speeds where the front brake does most of the work.
