The 2019 Indian Chieftain has 3 recalls, the most serious being two electrical issues that can cause the motorcycle to move unexpectedly at startup or stall without warning while riding, both raising the risk of a crash.
A corroded gear position switch can falsely show neutral on the display when the bike is actually in gear, so starting the engine can cause the motorcycle to lurch forward. A separate circuit breaker can trip without warning, cutting power and stalling the engine mid-ride. There is also a lighting concern: the tail lights on certain bikes exceed the maximum allowed brightness, making it harder for drivers behind to distinguish the running light from the brake light and recognize that the motorcycle is slowing down.
