When that happens, the driveshaft can separate from the drivetrain, cutting power to the rear wheels and causing the truck to stall unexpectedly. Separately at the wheel end, the locking bolts on the left rear wheel bearing hub can be loose, allowing the entire wheel assembly to drift outward on the axle. That movement degrades braking performance and reduces the driver's ability to control the vehicle. Both of these axle and wheel issues carry a meaningful crash risk on a loaded commercial truck. The remaining two recalls cover the on-board fire extinguisher, which can fail to discharge correctly in a fire, leaving the driver without a working suppression tool when it is needed most.
