2016 Isuzu Npr

The 2016 Isuzu NPR has 5 recalls, the most serious being an accelerator pedal that can stick open, sending the truck to very high speeds and making it extremely difficult to bring to a stop.

Two other recalls involve the rear axle and wheel assemblies. The U-bolt nuts that clamp the rear axle leaf springs in place can loosen, allowing the axle to shift out of alignment. When that happens, the driveshaft can separate entirely, cutting power to the rear wheels and stalling the truck in traffic. Separately, the left rear wheel bearing hub bolts can also be insufficiently tightened, allowing the wheel assembly to walk outward away from the axle housing. That movement reduces braking effectiveness and can affect the driver's ability to steer and control the truck. Both of these issues raise the risk of a crash, particularly under load or at highway speeds where a commercial truck is hardest to bring under control quickly.

The remaining two recalls both concern the onboard fire extinguisher. The extinguisher supplied with certain trucks may not function correctly when needed, leaving the driver without a working suppression tool if a fire breaks out in or around the cab.
