The 2012 Lexus LX570 has two recalls, both involving the front airbag system: one where an incorrectly installed airbag may not deploy in a crash, and one where a failing seatbelt tension sensor wire can shut off multiple passenger airbags.
In the first issue, certain vehicles were built with the wrong driver or front passenger airbag, meaning the bag may not deploy with the correct timing or force in a crash. In the second, the wire harness connected to the passenger seat's seatbelt tension sensor can break over time, which deactivates the front passenger airbag, knee airbag, and seat-mounted side airbag all at once, leaving the front passenger with less protection if a crash occurs.
