The 2023 Lexus RX has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the driver's airbag, which can be deactivated and fail to deploy in a crash, raising the risk of injury to the driver.
The airbag issue stems from a faulty clockspring component, and a prior repair attempt did not fully resolve the problem for some vehicles, so both the original defect and an inadequate earlier fix are covered under separate recall campaigns. On the visibility side, two recalls affect the rearview camera: shifting into reverse may cause the camera image to either fail to appear at all or freeze on a still frame, leaving the driver with no view of what is directly behind the vehicle. One of these camera recalls applies only to vehicles equipped with the optional Panoramic View Monitor system.
