The 2017 Mercedes-Benz C Class has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the airbag control module and front seat latch systems that can both compromise occupant protection in a crash.
The airbag control module may have been programmed with incorrect software, which can affect how the passenger airbag and seatbelt force limiter deploy, raising the risk of injury in a frontal collision. Separately, the seatback on front seats may not fully lock on the right side, meaning unsecured objects in the rear could fly forward and strike front occupants in a crash. Both of these recalls affect certain vehicles across the model range. On the cabriolet specifically, there are two additional concerns: rear beltline body trim can detach while driving and become a road hazard for other vehicles or pedestrians, and front seatbelts on models equipped with the PRE-SAFE system may not retract fully when not in use, which can discourage occupants from buckling up.
