The 2011 Mitsubishi RVR has 5 recalls, the most serious involving the panoramic glass roof, which can detach completely from the vehicle and strike other vehicles, objects, or bystanders. On the braking side, a defect in the brake booster can prevent the pedal from returning to its normal position after being pressed, leaving the driver with an unexpected change in pedal feel and a higher risk of a crash. There is also a structural concern: the rear liftgate support struts can corrode from the inside out due to salt and water penetration, which can weaken the struts that hold the tailgate open. Two related recalls cover the windshield wiper system, where water draining from the cowl area can collect in the wiper motor and cause it to fail, or corrode and wear the wiper linkage ball joint to the point where it separates and the wipers stop sweeping.

Defect

On certain vehicles, water may drain from the windshield cowl area onto the front wiper link ball joint. Over time, this could result in corrosion and/or wear to the joint, which could result in the separation of the wiper link ball. If separation were to occur, the windshield wipers could become inoperative, which could limit the driver’s visibility under certain operating conditions which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
