The 2022 Porsche 911 has two recalls, both centered on airbag protection: a windshield or rear window that can detach and a dashboard console that can crack, either of which can cause airbags to deploy improperly in a crash. Both issues affect the same outcome: if the front airbags fire and the windshield is not properly secured, it may pull away from the body instead of acting as a backstop for the deploying bag. Separately from the glass, the dashboard console can fracture during a frontal collision, causing the passenger airbag to misfire or misdirect rather than cushion the occupant as designed.
