The 2011 Suzuki Kizashi has 5 recalls, the most serious involving the fuel tank cracking and leaking fuel, which raises the risk of fire.
Two separate issues can block the vent line that the fuel system relies on to breathe: dust buildup and spider webs can each restrict airflow, causing the fuel tank to develop excessive negative pressure, crack, and leak. There is also a transmission concern: the shift selector can be moved out of Park without pressing the brake pedal, allowing the vehicle to roll unexpectedly. On the safety equipment side, the front passenger seat's leather can shrink in high heat and humidity, causing the passenger seat sensor to misread the occupant. That misreading can work in two directions: it may allow the front airbag to deploy toward a child in the seat, or it may suppress the airbag entirely when an adult is sitting there, leaving them without protection in a crash.
