The 2012 Suzuki Kizashi has 5 recalls, the most serious involving the fuel tank cracking due to a blocked vent line, which can cause a fuel leak and raise the risk of fire.
The vent line blockage can come from two sources: dust accumulation or spider webs forming inside the evaporative canister hose, both of which build up excessive negative pressure until the tank cracks. There is also a transmission concern: the shift selector can be moved out of Park without pressing the brake pedal, which can allow the car to roll unexpectedly. Two recalls involve the front passenger seat sensor, which can misread who is sitting in the seat due to leather shrinkage from heat and humidity. Depending on how the sensor misclassifies the occupant, the front passenger airbag may either deploy when a child is in the seat or fail to deploy when an adult is present.
