The 2023 Zero DSR/X has 4 recalls, all centered on the same core risk: loss of drive power that can cause a crash.
Three separate electrical issues can cut power to the rear wheel while riding. In some motorcycles, the motor controller was not assembled correctly, leading to either a power surge or higher electrical resistance at an internal connection point, both of which can kill drive power unexpectedly. On others, the wiring connected to the key switch was routed incorrectly and can break under normal use, also cutting power mid-ride. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue across all affected units, which is why multiple campaigns address what amounts to the same consequence: sudden loss of propulsion.
