On certain vehicles equipped with 2.0L and 2.4L engines, the engine may contain residual metallic debris from factory machining operations. If debris is present, it could potentially restrict oil flow to the main bearings and rod bearings and could lead to premature wear. If the vehicle continues to be driven with worn bearings, the bearings could fail, which could cause an engine stall while the vehicle is in motion, resulting in loss of motive power which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Worn bearings could also result in the illumination of the oil pressure lamp in the instrument cluster.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the engine sub-assembly.

On certain vehicles equipped with 1.6L GTDI engines, low coolant level could lead to localized overheating of the cylinder head, which could cause a fire. This could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install a coolant level sensor and supporting hardware and software.
On certain vehicles equipped with 1.4L engines, there may be a software calibration fault in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which could cause a delayed throttle response to accelerate or maintain vehicle speed. A loss of vehicle propulsion could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the PCM with revised software.
Certain motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS) 1106 - Noise Emissions. The wrong exhaust silencer was installed during manufacturing, which results in the exhaust system failing to comply with the standard.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install an exhaust silencer compliant with the Canadian standard.
On certain vehicles, the starting current limiter could be overloaded under certain conditions. In the event the starter is blocked, a very high electric current could flow through the starting current limiter during repeated engine starting attempts. The high electric draw could cause the starting current limiter to overheat causing the surrounding components to melt which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter.
On certain vehicles, improper casting of the engine block may cause the engine to seize/lock up. A seizing engine may lead to a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
