On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system to enter a failsafe mode. As a result, the heater could stop working. If this happens, the windshield defroster may not work properly.
Note: This problem could cause an "EV System Malfunction" or "Drive Start Control Malfunction" message to display.
Safety Risk
A windshield defroster that doesn't work properly could cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the HVAC system electronic control unit software. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the electrical compressor.
On certain vehicles, a software problem could prevent the Active Lane Keeping Assist system from working properly. When travelling at speeds of over 100 km/h, while the driver would be alerted of an unintended lane departure, the system may not help to safely bring the vehicle back in to its lane. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will update the multipurpose camera software.
On certain vehicles, the rearview camera does not return to the default settings when it turns on. This could make the rearview image difficult to see if a driver had previously adjusted the camera display brightness at or near the lowest setting, and contrast at or near the highest setting. Canadian regulations require that the rearview display returns to the default view each time the camera is turned on.
Safety Risk
Reduced rear visibility could increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the rearview camera. Drivers are recommended not to adjust the display brightness at or near the lowest setting, and contrast at or near the highest setting, until this recall is completed.
Update 2021/09/22: The software update for this recall has been combined with the repair for recall 2021-527.

On certain vehicles, the instrument cluster speaker wires may fracture as a consequence of an overly aggressive turn signal sound wave form, the volume of which is vehicle speed dependant. At higher speeds the wave form has an amplitude that aggravates the condition where speaker wires could fail. In the event of speaker failure, audible notifications (turn signal, seat belt warning, "lights on" warning, driver's door open, etc.) will cease to function. The loss of audible warnings increases the risk of getting involved in a crash, causing personal injuries or property damages.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will download the latest software into the instrument cluster and test the directional indicators for an audible notification.
