Under certain conditions, the rear shock absorbers could overextend and cause damage to the rear brake hoses. A damaged brake hose could leak and cause reduced braking. A shock absorber that overextends could also cause damage to the rear axle half shafts, wheel speed sensors, and/or stabilizer bar end links.
Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with continuous controlled damping (CCD) shock absorbers.
Safety Risk
Reduced braking can cause an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rear shock absorbers. The dealer will replace the rear shock absorbers, rear brake hoses, rear wheel speed sensors, and rear half shafts, as necessary.

VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH DEALER INSTALLED AIR CONDITIONING. SOME AIR CONDITIONING KITS MAY CONTAIN IMPROPERLY LOCATED BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR WIRES WHICH COULD CONTACT THE POLYPROPYLENE BLOWER HOUSING. SHOULD THE BLOWER MOTOR BECOME JAMMED, SUFFICIENT HEAT MAY DEVELOP IN THE RESISTOR WIRE TO IGNITE THE BLOWER HOUSING CAUSING A VEHICLE FIRE.
On a small number of vehicles, the high-voltage battery pack may not be properly sealed. As a result, water could enter the battery pack. If this happens, the vehicle may not start or there could be a loss of power to the wheels.

THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THROTTLE CABLES ARE ATTACHED TO THE SAME THROTTLE VALVE ACTUATING LEVER AT THE THROTTLE HOUSING. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE PLASTIC BUSHING ON EITHER CABLE COULD BREAK DUE TO ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES COUPLED WITH VIBRATION. IF THE BUSHING BREAKS, THE OUTER CABLE HOUSING CAN SEPARATE FROM THE BUSHING. IN THIS CASE, DURING APPLICATION OF THE THROTTLE PEDAL WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL BEING ENGAGED, THE OUTER TUBE COULD CATCH ON THE EDGE OF THE BROKEN BUSHING.
Safety Risk
THIS COULD CAUSE THE THROTTLE VALVE TO REMAIN PARTIALLY OPEN. IT HIS WERE TO OCCUR, THE CAR MIGHT NOT DECELERATE AS EXPECTED INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SPRING STEEL CLIP ON THE OUTER TUBE OF EACH CABLE IN THE AREA OF THE ADJUSTING SCREW AND PLASTIC BUSHING. THE CLIP IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE OUTER TUBE FROM DISLODGING FROM THE BUSHING.
