On certain vehicles, installing a child seat in the front passenger seat could deform the seat belt bracket. This could cause the occupant classification system (OCS) sensor to fail to detect the installed child seat. In the event of a crash, the airbag would not be suppressed which would increase the risk of injury.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will reinforce the seatbelt bracket and update both the air bag control unit and electronic control unit.
Certain vehicles equipped with remote start capability fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 208 - Occupant Restraint Systems. The safety belt reminder light for the driver's seating position does not illuminate after the ignition key is inserted and turned to the 'run' position following a remote start. As well, the audible chime for the driver's seating position will not sound if the driver and a front seat passenger enter the vehicle following a remote start, the passenger buckles his/her seatbelt within 25 to 33 seconds after the remote start, and the ignition key is then turned to the 'run' position. Note: This non-compliance condition has no affect on vehicle safety.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will recalibrate the Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) to activate an enhanced seatbelt reminder feature, which repeats the chime and telltale cycles up to two times if the seatbelt is not buckled and if the vehicles speed is over 8 km/h. This enhanced feature is already activated on 2007 vehicles.

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection. The top cover of the passenger side instrument panel may have been manufactured incorrectly, which could result in the passenger side airbag deploying irregularly. This would increase the potential for a front passenger seat occupant injury (where deployment is warranted).
Safety Risk

Certain vehicles that have had a driver and/or front passenger seatback pad replaced may not comply with Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 214 - Side Impact Protection. Certain seatback pads sold as replacement service parts may have been manufactured without a slit opening for the seat mounted side airbags. In the event of a crash warranting deployment of the side airbag(s), the seatback pad would interfere and adversely affect airbag performance, which could increase the risk of injury to the front seated occupant.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the front seatback pad(s) as necessary.

On certain vehicles, when the passenger (right side) front seat is operated to its fully reward position, it is possible that the seat track can compress and damage the battery supply cable. If this were to occur, the damaged wiring could contact and ground against the seat track, causing the wiring to overheat and melt, which could cause smoke and increase the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the battery supply cable for damage, and install a routing block to ensure that the seat track cannot compress the battery supply cables.

On certain vehicles, the rear seat shoulder belts may twist, allowing the webbing to be jammed in the retractor. When the shoulder belt webbing becomes jammed in the retractor, the seat belt becomes unusable. This condition could prevent a person from using the seat belt system, and risk of injury to an unbelted person in a vehicle crash would be increased.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will remove any twists from the rear shoulder belts and install newly designed clips to the belt web guide to prevent twisting.
