Honda is recalling certain model year 2002-2006 CR-V passenger vehicles, manufactured from February 19, 2002, through July 28, 2006. The driver-side power window switch may fail or melt.
If the switch fails, it could overheat, smoke, and cause a fire. A switch failure, and a fire, could occur even if the vehicle is not in use. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the recall repair has been performed.

On certain vehicles, the chassis electronic module may have been contaminated at time of manufacture, which could cause an electrical short to occur within the module. This could cause the vehicle's check engine light to be displayed, or cause the engine to fail to start or stall, resulting in a loss of motive power. If the vehicle is equipped to support electric trailer brakes, the vehicle could also lose trailer brake function and display a "Service Trailer Brake System" indicator. Certain vehicles may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 114 - Theft Protection and Rollaway Protection, and CMVSS 208 - Occupant Protection In Frontal Impacts. The radio software may intermittently fail to provide an audio warning when a key is left in the ignition and the driver door is opened, or when the driver forgets to put on their seat belt, which is contrary to the requirements of the standard. A loss of the seat belt audible warning may increase the likelihood of a front outboard occupant being unbelted, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Similarly, the loss of an audible warning when a key is left in the ignition may increase the risk of vehicle theft.

On certain vehicles, if the engine fails to start and the driver holds the key in the "Start" position for an extended period, high current flowing through the ignition switch may produces enough heat to melt internal switch parts. If the switch is damaged, a fire could occur in the steering column, even with the engine off and the key removed.
