On certain motorcycles, the cylinder head sealing plugs, covering holes in the area of the spark plugs, may not be fully seated. If either or both of the sealing plugs were to detach from their mounting point during vehicle operation, coolant could escape from the holes, travel along the engine cover and contact the rear tire. This could result in loss of traction and possible loss of vehicle control.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Sealing plugs will be replaced with stainless steel plugs.

On certain motorcycles, frequent short-trip usage, particularly at low ambient temperatures, causes condensation, increasing the proportion of water in the engine oil. The water vapour produced while the engine is running condenses at the outlet port of the dry-sump oil tank breather. If temperatures are below 0 degrees Celsius, the condensation can freeze and plug the breather line of the oil tank. As a result, oil tank over-pressurization can cause the tank to rupture, allowing oil to escape onto the rear wheel and create the risk of a crash causing injuries or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will install an updated oil cap with a pressure relief valve.
ENGINE MOVEMENT MAY RESULT IN THE THROTTLE CABLE HOUSING BEING PULLED OUT OF THE CABLE GUIDE. THIS COULD PREVENT THE THROTTLE FROM RETURNING TO THE IDLE POSITION WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS RELEASED RESULTING IN THE POSSIBILITY OF A VEHICLE CRASH.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
THROTTLE CABLE HOUSING WILL BE REPOSITIONED TO PROVIDE SLACK FOR ENGINE MOVEMENT. THROTTLE CABLE ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED IF NECESSARY.
On certain motorcycles, contamination between the valve tappet and cam may cause the hardened surface of the valve tappet to peel if the surface shape of the valve tappet is convex. This would allow the inner part of the valve tappet to come in contact with the cam, which could cause both the valve tappet and cam to wear, increasing the valve tappet clearance. If the valve tappet clearance becomes large, it can result in an abnormal noise and can cause the engine to stall. An engine stall could lead to a loss of stability of the motorcycle, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
For motorcycles with odometer readings of 4,000 kilometers or greater, dealers will inspect the tappet clearances and will replace the valve tappets and camshafts if the valve tappets clearances are greater than the specification. For motorcycles with odometer readings of less than 4,000 kilometers, dealers will replace the tappets and camshafts, because the tappet clearances may be within the specification at low mileage even if there is abnormal wear.
