On certain vehicles, the 3rd-row curtain side-impact airbag on the driver's side may have been installed slightly out of position during vehicle assembly. This could cause the airbag to inflate in a manner different than designed or not inflate at all. The most likely result of this mis-installation is a delayed deployment. Nissan testing has determined that the delay would be about 20 msc compared with the design intent, and the bag will still be inflated before a 3rd-row occupant might interact with it in a side impact crash. Testing also determined that in the event of a non-deployment, the vehicle still exceeds all safety requirements in the third row seats.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and, if required, reposition the 3rd-row curtain side-impact airbag. This action is deemed a voluntary service campaign and is not being conducted under the Motor Vehicel Safety Act.
On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, could eventually degrade the propellant contained in the driver frontal airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. As a result, if the vehicle were involved in a collision that warrants airbag deployment, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants, and the airbag assembly could be damaged, preventing proper function. These issues could increase the risk of injury.

Remedy
Dealers will replace the driver frontal airbag inflator.

On certain trucks, the driver and/or passenger-front airbag inflator could rupture when the airbag deploys in a crash. If this happens, the airbag may not inflate properly and small pieces of metal could be propelled toward vehicle occupants.
Safety Risk
An airbag inflator that ruptures can create a risk of injury or death.
Remedy
Ford advises not to drive your vehicle until the recall repairs are completed. You should contact a Ford dealer immediately to have the vehicle repaired. Ford will replace the driver and passenger-front airbag inflators.

On certain vehicles, the driver frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the driver airbag inflator on Saab 9-3 and 9-5 vehicles and replace the driver airbag module on Saturn Astra vehicles.

On certain vehicles, the passenger-front airbag may not have been folded properly. As a result, the airbag may inflate with too much force in a crash where the airbag deploys.
Safety Risk
An airbag that inflates with too much force could create an increased risk of injury in a crash.
Remedy
Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag.

Certain AMG GLC 63 S vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. The airbag control unit software may not meet specifications, which could lead to delayed deployment of the passenger front airbag in certain crashes. This could increase the risk of injury to the front passenger.
Certain 323I and 328I vehicles may experience inadvertent or non-crash side impact lateral air bags deployment. In addition, the Battery Safety Terminal (BST) would also activate, disconnecting the starter cable from the battery. In this case, the vehicle electrical systems would continue to operate and the engine would continue to run; however, after the engine is turned off, it could not be restarted.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will recalibrate the side airbag system in order to reduce the possibility of such non-crash deployments.

On certain vehicles, the wiring that connects the steering column rotary coupler (clockspring) to the driver's airbag module may fracture as a result of relative motion between the clockspring and the steering wheel hub. This may result in the deployment of only one stage of the dual stage airbag during a vehicle crash of sufficient severity, or cause the airbag to not deploy at all. Should the airbag module fail to deploy in the intended manner, it could increase the driver's risk of injury or death.
Safety Risk

Remedy
Dealers will insert alignment spacers into specific areas of the steering column.

Certain vehicles may have been fitted with an incorrect Occupant Classification System (OCS) module. An incorrect OCS module would impair the effectiveness of the OCS, potentially failing to properly classify an adult passenger seated in the front passenger seat. This could increase the risk of injury to the occupant in a crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace and update the OCS module.

The seat position sensor (SPS) detects the driver's seating position and adjusts the airbag inflation pressure accordingly in the event of a crash. This is primarily to lessen the inflation pressure for smaller statured drivers who usually sit closer to the steering wheel. In the affected vehicles, the SPS harness was incorrectly attached to the 8-way power seat frame. Over time, the sensor harness could break which would cause the airbag warning light to be illuminated, and the SPS to fail. A failure of the SPS causes the airbag deployment to default to full inflation pressure, regardless of the seat position. Full deployment of the driver's airbag could increase the risk of injury for smaller statured drivers in a frontal crash.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the seat position sensor wiring harness.
On certain vehicles, the side curtain airbag inflators could be defective. As a result, the driver and/or passenger side curtain airbag inflator(s) could deploy without a crash. If this happens, parts could be propelled toward vehicle occupants.
Safety Risk
An airbag inflator that ruptures can create a risk of injury.
Remedy
General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace both side curtain airbag modules.
