The 2024 BMW iX has 4 recalls, all rated at the same severity level, with the most pressing concerns centered on sudden speed changes and unexpected loss of drive power.
Two recalls involve the high-voltage battery system. In one, a loose connection in the battery cell monitoring circuit can cause the vehicle to stall without warning. In the other, battery cell modules that were not properly assembled can put stress on the module frame, eventually causing it to fail and shut down the high-voltage system, cutting drive power entirely. A separate software issue in the electric drive motor can also trigger a high-voltage system shutdown, again leaving the vehicle without propulsion. There is also a cruise control concern: while turning the steering wheel at low speeds, the driver can accidentally reactivate cruise control, causing the vehicle to surge forward unexpectedly.
