The 2015 Chrysler 200 has 9 recalls, the most serious being a 9-speed automatic transmission defect where the park pawl can fail to engage, allowing the vehicle to roll away after the driver releases the brake pedal. Two electrical recalls affect certain vehicles: a faulty connector in the power distribution center can cause intermittent power loss and unexpected stalling, and the driver's door wiring harness can overheat, potentially melting insulation and causing a short that leads to smoke or fire. These two issues are distinct but both stem from electrical connection problems across the car. On the chassis side, rear shock absorbers have a weld that can fail, allowing the shock to detach and potentially damage a tire or reduce braking. There is also a passenger seat occupant classification concern: if the passenger seat detection module and seat cushion foam were replaced separately during prior service rather than as a matched set, the system may not correctly identify the front passenger, causing the airbag to deploy incorrectly in a crash.
