The 2013 Ducati 1199 Panigale has 6 recalls, the most serious involving brake and steering failures: the front brake master cylinder reservoir hose can be damaged by contact with a retaining screw, potentially causing complete front brake failure, and the Öhlins steering damper can detach from its mounting point or from the steering head, leading to sudden loss of steering control.
On the chassis side, the rear swingarm shaft pivots can loosen and work free from the swingarm, which can also cause loss of control. There is also a fire risk: the cable cover running near the exhaust butterfly valve can melt or burn from catalytic converter heat, producing smoke or igniting a fire. Rounding out the list, the left handlebar switch can lose power from a poor connection at the dashboard, disabling the horn, high beam, instrument panel display, and right turn signals, leaving the rider without key warning and signaling tools.
