2010 Ducati Mts1200

The 2010 Ducati MTS1200 has 5 recalls, with the most serious involving two separate steering concerns: a loose steering head that can rob the rider of directional control, and an electronic steering lock that can fail to release when the motorcycle is keyed on, leaving the bars locked at low speed.

The steering head issue stems from a wrong screw installed during assembly, which can work loose over time and make the steering feel vague or unresponsive. The electronic steering lock problem is tied to a specific software version on the hands-free device; if the lock does not disengage on startup, the rider can lose the ability to steer at all, raising the risk of a tip-over or collision. On the throttle side, the throttle cables on certain bikes can rub against the upper edge of the radiator during normal riding, wearing through the cable housing and causing erratic or unresponsive throttle response. One recall affects only the Multistrada 1200 S Touring edition: the center stand mounting screws can loosen and allow the stand to shift out of position while riding, potentially contacting the ground and destabilizing the motorcycle mid-corner. There is also a fuel system concern on the 1200 S variant, where the engine can stall when the rider downshifts or maneuvers with the clutch disengaged and the engine at idle, cutting power at a moment when control is most needed.
