2016 Ducati Xdiavel S

The 2016 Ducati XDiavel S has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the rear wheel and front brake master cylinder, either of which can lead to a crash if the defect is present.

The rear wheel on certain bikes may have been installed incorrectly at the factory, with the hub drive pins seated in the wrong recesses rather than properly engaging the wheel rim holes. If those pins fail under load, the rear wheel loses both its braking function and its connection to engine power, leaving the rider with reduced stopping ability and no drive to the rear wheel. The front brake master cylinder on some models can also fail, cutting hydraulic pressure to the front brake and significantly reducing stopping power. Together, these two issues represent the most critical safety concerns on this motorcycle.

The remaining recall involves the passenger backrest. If the backrest is installed or used incorrectly, it can break while a passenger is leaning against it, causing the passenger to fall from the motorcycle. This recall covers a broad range of XDiavel S and XDiavel STD model years beyond 2016, so owners of other years in that family may also be affected.
