The 2019 Isuzu FTR has 8 recalls, the most serious being a cab tilt-lock that may not engage after servicing, allowing the cab to tip forward while the truck is in motion and raising the risk of a crash.
Steering is a recurring concern across several recalls. A bolt on the left front steering knuckle can come loose, and a separate steering stopper bolt jam nut can back off, both of which increase the turning radius during a left turn and reduce the driver's ability to steer predictably. On the electrical side, an improperly routed Mobileye collision warning camera cable can overload the circuit and overheat, creating a fire risk. A starter motor ground cable can break at its eyelet, and if the driver repeatedly tries to start the truck, current reroutes through the power steering hose, which can heat up and rupture. A loose relay box power supply bolt can cause the engine to stall, and a chafed chassis wire harness can also trigger stalling or reduce anti-lock brake function. Finally, axle stabilizer bracket bolts can crack and allow the bracket to detach and fall onto the road, becoming a hazard for other vehicles.
