The 2015 Isuzu NPR XD has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the left rear wheel hub, where loose locking bolts can allow the entire wheel assembly to shift outward on the axle, reducing braking performance and steering control.
A separate structural concern involves the frame crossmember that supports the transmission. Metal burrs left on that crossmember during manufacturing can cause the transmission mounting studs to crack and break. Without proper support, the transmission may not shift correctly, which can leave the driver unable to select the right gear or lose drive power unexpectedly. Both of these issues carry a meaningful risk of a crash if they occur at highway speed or in traffic.
The remaining two recalls both involve the on-board fire extinguisher. The extinguisher mounted in the cab may fail to discharge properly if a fire breaks out, leaving the driver without a working means to suppress a small fire before it grows. These two filings address the same underlying equipment problem across overlapping model year ranges, and together they mean the truck's fire extinguisher cannot be relied on in an emergency.
