The 1990 Plymouth Laser has 5 recalls, the most serious affecting all-wheel-drive models: the transfer case may have been underfilled with oil at the factory, which can cause it to seize and lock the rear wheels without warning.

The sunroof on certain vehicles can detach from the roof if the latch handle is used in an unexpected way, separating the glass panel and creating a hazard for vehicles following behind. On the structural side, some windshields were installed using a diluted primer on the mounting flange, which weakens the bond between the glass and the body and can allow the windshield to separate in a crash. On the emissions side, vehicles with the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine can produce excessive heat that degrades the oxygen sensor faster than normal, causing carbon monoxide output to climb beyond the legal limit. A fifth recall listed in the records is a duplicate of that emissions filing and does not describe a separate defect.
